British Biennial 2

In the afternoon I really enjoyed Rachel Conray talking about two exhibitions staged at National Museum Wales Cardiff - Quietus and Fragile.

I had visited Fragile and loved it - especially the display of bricks - there is a Wales Brick Collection in Cardiff - something to explore more! It was interesting discovering the challenges of staging this exhibition - to touch or not to touch!

Quietus was an exhibition by Julian Stair in 2013 - an exhibition about ceramic vessels and the traditions of death. I missed this exhibition which seems to have been really moving and powerful. From the curatorial point of view, the decisions re plinths, barriers, signs - the opportunity for people to touch were really interesting, as well as the recorded responses from visitors - some who found the exhibition and the timing of their visit really cathartic.
